About Our Soap

Enriched with olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, castor oil, and avocado oil or sweet almond oil (review product description for which of these two oils is included), our soap is meticulously formulated to pamper your skin with hydration and nourishment.

Olive Oil: Renowned for its moisturizing properties, olive oil helps to soften and soothe the skin. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, it aids in protecting the skin from environmental stressors while promoting a healthy glow.

Shea Butter: Extracted from the nut of the African shea tree, shea butter is deeply moisturizing and incredibly nourishing. It helps to replenish the skin's natural moisture barrier, leaving it soft, supple, and radiant.

Coconut OilPrized for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, contributes to a creamy lather that gently cleanses while replenishing the skin's natural oils. Its high concentration of fatty acids helps to hydrate and soften the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and refreshed.

Cocoa Butter: Known for its emollient properties, cocoa butter forms a protective barrier on the skin, locking in moisture and promoting elasticity. It helps to improve skin texture and tone, leaving it smooth, firm, and radiant.

Castor Oil: Castor oil is a natural humectant, drawing moisture to the skin and sealing it in for long-lasting hydration. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it effective in soothing dry, irritated skin and reducing redness.

Avocado Oil: Packed with vitamins A, D, and E, as well as essential fatty acids, avocado oil deeply nourishes and revitalizes the skin. It helps to replenish moisture, soothe inflammation, and promote collagen production, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

Sweet Almond Oil: Derived from the kernels of almonds, is a lightweight yet nourishing oil that absorbs easily into the skin. Rich in vitamins A and E, as well as essential fatty acids, sweet almond oil helps to moisturize and soften the skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth and radiant.

What are ”Saponified Oils and Butters”?
Sodium hydroxide, also known as lye or caustic soda, is a crucial ingredient in the soap-making process. It is used in a chemical reaction called saponification, which transforms fats or oils into soap and glycerin.

During saponification, the sodium hydroxide reacts with the triglycerides (the molecules that make up fats and oils) in the presence of water. This reaction breaks the triglycerides into fatty acid salts (soap) and glycerin. The fatty acid salts are the soap molecules, while glycerin is a natural byproduct that helps to moisturize the skin.

The saponification reaction neutralizes the sodium hydroxide, so there is no remaining lye in the finished soap product.

What about Fragrance Oils?

All the fragrance oils used in our soaps (and candles) are phthalate free and Proposition 65 compliant. But…what does that mean?

Phthalate-free fragrance oils offer several benefits, particularly in terms of health, safety, and environmental impact. Here are some key advantages:

Reduced Health Risks: Phthalates are synthetic chemicals commonly used to enhance the scent and longevity of fragrances. However, certain phthalates have been linked to adverse health effects, including hormone disruption, reproductive issues, and respiratory problems. By opting for phthalate-free fragrance oils, you can minimize your exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals, reducing the risk of associated health concerns.

Allergen Reduction: Phthalates have been identified as potential allergens and skin irritants for some individuals. By choosing phthalate-free fragrance oils, people with sensitive skin or allergies can enjoy scented products without the risk of triggering adverse reactions.

Environmentally Friendly: Phthalates are not readily biodegradable and can persist in the environment, posing potential risks to ecosystems and wildlife. Phthalate-free fragrance oils are often more environmentally friendly and sustainable. They minimize the release of harmful chemicals into the environment, contributing to efforts to reduce pollution and promote ecological health.

Safer for Indoor Air Quality: Synthetic fragrances containing phthalates can contribute to indoor air pollution, particularly in enclosed spaces like homes and offices. Phthalate-free fragrance oils emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can help maintain healthier indoor air quality. This is especially beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions or sensitivities to chemical odors.

Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law aimed at protecting drinking water sources from toxic substances that can cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm, and to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals.

Fragrance oils that are Proposition 65 compliant offer several benefits for consumers, businesses, and the environment:

Consumer Safety: Proposition 65-compliant fragrance oils adhere to strict standards regarding the presence of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm. By choosing these fragrance oils, exposure to potentially harmful chemicals is minimized, promoting health and well-being.

Environmental Protection: Proposition 65 compliance often involves minimizing the use of toxic chemicals and prioritizing safer alternatives. Fragrance oils that meet these standards contribute to reducing environmental pollution and minimizing harm to ecosystems. By choosing environmentally responsible options, we support sustainability and protect natural resources.
